Lets talk about one of the most common skin condition faced by so many Nigerians and how it can be managed. Acne is a skin condition that occurs when your hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. It causes whiteheads, blackheads or pimples. Acne is formed when the face secretes too much sebum.

what is sebum?

  • Sebum is an oily substance that your sebaceous glands secrete to moisturize your skin and hair.
  • Androgens are hormones that your body produces. If you have high or fluctuating levels of androgen, it can cause your sebaceous glands to produce greater amounts of sebum causing severe acne

(note) sebaceous gland is a gland that  secretes a lubricating oily matter (sebum) into the hair follicles to lubricate the skin and hair on the dermis layer of the skin
